Malaysia : Truly Asia

When they say Malaysia is a colorful country, they really mean it!. “Of three major ethnicities- Malay, Chinese and Indians - Malaysia is composed.” This multiracial and multicultural-country is analogous to a prism through which the white light that passes is refracted into a spectrum of rays. Whatever the ancestral countries has had to offer, it has bequeathed and whatever they could acquire they have inherited. India, China and Indonesia - from which countries the ancestors of the now Malaysian people have come - has encoded enough message pertaining culture in the brains of our ancestors.

“Many have now come to acquiesce that Malaysia is indeed the melting pot of traditional Asiatic cultures. Dating back to the Han Dynasty, the Lion Dance- one of the many magnificent Chinese traditional arts- has been well preserved and performed in Malaysia. And that which comes from the ancient Dravidian empire, among many other miraculous things, is the stylistic drumming method that draws out a peculiar sound from a two headed drum called Urumi.

The thundering sounds of the Malay Kompang and Balinese Gamelan, to partake in this superiority display, are heard throughout Malaysia together with the Lion’s roar and the drum’s merriment to serve a broth that invites many to the musical buffet.”

Music is not music till it is presented to the public. Without a proper means of getting music to the audience, art cannot thrive. Fortunately, in Malaysia this is done most effectively through Istana Budaya and Petronas Philharmonic Hall. Hailed as one of the most sophisticated theatres in the world, Istana Budaya is often compared to the Royal Albert Hall. Dewan Philharmonic Orchestra, to start with, is now regarded as a world class orchestra with 105 musicians from more than 20 countries around the world striving to unlock the minds of Malaysian audiences to the poetic beauty of classical music.

It is perhaps commonplace to tell that music is in everybody’s heart. But, unless it is stirred, it falls irrevocably farther into the abyss of the heart. Jazz festivals like Philips Jazz Festival and The Sunrise Jazz Festival does exactly that.In addition, a spur of jazz clubs around the city provides jamming sessions between local and visiting musicians from all over the world.

Where such ensemble of establishments could only hasten the development of music in Malaysia. In fact, though not apparent, Malaysia is truly capable of creating a whole new path through which the future generation can tread without changing the destination for true artistic appreciation, Trident Entertainment on the other hand carves the added niche in which shaping this amalgamating ideas into working possibilities conjure.329,750 sq km, 23 million people, 3 languages, ONE culture.

Malaysia truly asia.
